قید موقعیت مکانی یا location

برای صحبت در مورد اینکه یک شخص یا چیز کجا قرار دارد از حروف اضافه استفاده می‌کنیم:

above	among	at	behind	below	beneath
beside	between	by	in	in between	inside
near	next to	on	opposite	outside	over
round	through	under	underneath

He was standing by the table.

او در کنار میز ایستاده بود.

She lives in a village near Glasgow.

او در روستایی در نزدیکی گلاسکو زندگی می‌کند.

You’ll find it in the cupboard.

آن را در کمد پیدا خواهید کرد.

• می‌توانیم از عبارات همراه با of به عنوان حرف اضافه استفاده کنیم:

at the back of	at the top of	at the bottom of	at the end of
on top of	at the front of	in front of	in the middle of

There were some flowers in the middle of the table.

وسط میز چند گل قرار داشت.

Sign your name here – at the bottom of the page.

اسم خودت را اینجا بنویس و امضا کن – پایین صفحه.

I can’t see. You’re standing in front of me.

نمی‌توانم ببینم. تو جلوی من ایستادی.

• می‌توانیم از right به عنوان تشدیدکننده یا intensifier همراه با برخی از قیدها استفاده کنیم:

He was standing right next to the table.

او درست کنار میز ایستاده بود.

There were some flowers right in the middle of the table.

تعدادی گل درست وسط میز قرار داشت.

There’s a wood right behind our house.

درست پشت خانه‌مان جنگلی قرار دارد.

• همچنین برای موقعیت مکانی از قیدها استفاده می‌کنیم:

abroad	here	indoors	upstairs
overseas	there	outdoors	downstairs
away	round	out of doors	home
nearby	around	next door

Children love to play out of doors.

کودکان بازی کردن را دوست دارند.

Did you see anybody there?

کسی را آنجا دیدین؟

We have one bedroom downstairs.
